Luk Yuen at SM Megamall

Whenever we pass by Megamall's basement, I always notice Luk Yuen. I find the place a bit fancy. It took a while before we tried this restaurant because le husband doesn't like Chinese food that much. In a year, we have visited just at least 3 Chinese restos.
Upon entering the place, nothing is special. The staff are so busy as they always roam around. It isn't relaxing really. It feels like everyone moves very fast, which I don't like.
Paulo chose to order chicken bento, while I went with Halo Halo congee and King Dao pork noodles.

Chicken bento, Php 295.00
We actually liked the bento except for the noodles. It had some weird smell that we can't bear especially when it gets near your nose. It smells like plastic or something. The chicken tasted good though. And the eggplant is surprisingly yummy too. I'm not a fan of eggplants so Paulo was really surprised to see me eat it.

Small halo halo congee, Php 120.00
I ordered halo halo congee because it was on the top 10 list of best congee, ranked by Spot.ph. But when I've got to taste it, I was so disappointed. I don't think it's worth my Php 120.00. Carinderia congees are even better. The chips didn't even go well with the dish.

King dao pork noodle with egg noodles, Php 185.00
This noodle is my favorite. It was a bit spicy and sweet. The egg noodles were cooked well. The pork is tender too. Our money was worth it with this one.
Overall, the dishes are just so-so. Not advisable for dates, just for casual meetings. If you're in a budget, you can try it here, but don't expect much. For me, this is just a 2 out of 5. Sorry, it didn't meet our expectations or we're just not really fans of Chinese foods.
